Youth World Cup update!
After a very successful time at the breed show where the youth squad members competed against each other in as many classes as they could, and showed how competitive they really are, they have had a quiet couple of months coping with being back at school and practicing for Charlene’s return and the youth team selection weekend.
This weekend is the team selection weekend. Charlene will arrive on Friday and will begin to coach the squad on Saturday and Sunday. The group will stay together at David Deptford’s. They will ride a group of horses provided by David, Jane and Mike Roberts, Frances Neil and Jane Lerwell.
They will each draw a horse that they will ride for the first morning and will draw again when Charlene feels she would like to see them on another horse. None of the riders will have ridden the horses before making it fair and resembling what they will be doing at the Youth World Cup.
During the weekend we will discuss future training dates, and make more detailed plans for the trip to the Youth World Cup itself.
The team itself will be selected by Charlene at the end of the weekend when she has had a chance to see everyone ride.
It will be a weekend of fun and really hard work and I am sure all the riders will learn an enormous amount and be inspired by Charlene’s enthusiasm for western riding.
I will keep you all updated as the weekend progresses.
