European Championship of American Quarter Horses in Kreuth:

First 2 medals for Austria in Amateur Cutting – first gold medal for Czech Republic

Gerold Dautzenberg wins Amateur class, Karel Spacil the Junior Open

Gerold Dautzenberg was the big winner of the Amateur Cutting today at the European Championship in Kreuth. The Austrian who was European Champion many times before, rode his mare Roosters Dream to another gold medal and also placed third with Peppys Lil Richochet. Kiss My Cat and Jürgen Döring became Reserve Champion. The two had won the first go round but had some misunderstanding in the second go.

The European Champion in Junior Cutting Open comes from the Czech Republic: Karel Spacil and Elans Magic (owned by Michalea Sykorova, Ranch Patriot) had earned first and second place in the first go round and dominated the second one with both judges. “This was the first time, the Czech national anthem was played at the European Championship,” said CZQHA president Jitka Kynclova after the class, beaming with joy and pride. „This was my biggest successt so far,” daid Karen Spacil who has been training cutting horses for eight years now. “I got the mare which was bred in the U.S.A. only a few months ago. I’m so proud of her.” The silver medal went to Gabi Weglöhner’s So Thirsty and Arno Gorgasser (GER), bronze to Smartest Lea and Christoph Seiler (SUI) .
