19th European Championship Quarter Horses starts this Week-end with Cattle and Halter Shows

Europe’s premier Quarter Horse event starts this week-end with the cattle and halter shows: the 19th European Championship of American Quarter Horses at Kreuth / Germany. 381 horses from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands, France, Luxemburg, Denmark and the Czech Republic are nominated for this show which is organized by the Federation of European Quarter Horse Asssociations. Altogether, there are 1617 starts at the moment.



There is a surprising number of competitors in the youth shows with an average of 20 competitors per show and more. One of the biggest classes is the Junior Western Pleasure Open with 26 horses (among them Hubertus Jagfeld astride Likely Exchange, Helga Hommel with Marlanas Promotor, Jens Erik Udsen with Touched Rite, Mirjam Giraudini astride CPR Blazin Calla and Ruggero Prevedel with An Awesome VP). The entry list is ready for download under www.ecqh.eu as well as schedule and patterns. Only the trail patterns are still missing as the showmanagement hasn’t got them yet. They will be published upon the website immediately as soon as they are available.


First European Champions in Halter, Cutting and Cowhorse

On Saturday and Sunday there will be the halter and cattle shows. In contrast to the other performance class, there are no finals in these disciplines, but only two go rounds. The cutting will be in the ‘Veranstaltungshalle’ and will start at 9 a.m. both days. At 10 a.m., the halter shows will begin in the Ostbayernhalle with the Cowhorse shows following on both days.

There are top class competitors both in Cutting and Cowhorse. The biggest cutting show will be the Senior Cutting Open with 16 competitors – among them Juergen Doering, Ute Holm, Joerg Pasternak, Gerold Dautzenberg and Roel Breeur. The biggest cowhorse class will be the Junior Working Cowhorse with nine competitors.
