Youth World Cup Print E-mail
It was a busy first day for the 2008 AQHA Youth World Cup at the AgriPlex in London, Ontario!

There are 16 nations represented in this year’s competition: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and the United States.

The first days opening ceremonies included a special performance of the Canadian Cowgirls mounted drill team, including a trick riding act. The Canadian Cowgirls also carried in each team’s national flag and presented it to them on the arena floor.

After lunch, teams drew for their competition horses, and they had their first practice rides to get to know them. The second day includes their first clinics and a visit to Niagara Falls.  See the team's first report..

The British have landed!!  All arrived safe and sound.  Our opening night was wonderful ( although some were extremely jet-lagged).  First night, dinner was held at the University where we are staying... then the drum cafe provided a great ice- breaker for the team with a universial language--- music.
Sunday-- a lie in, up at 7:30 breakfast and  buses departing for the opening ceramony and horse draw.
The Canadian Cowgirls provided a wonderful show and an awesome way to hand over each of the countries flags.
Our horses in the draw have provided our talented riders challenges, which is what this competition is all about-
Under the great guidence of Jackie Krshka, the team is discovering which horse and rider combination suits which class for the best results.
Sunday evening was a host of different activities which were done in small groups- mixed countries.  A great time was had by all--- I think every youth had some type of paint work on them-- including me!!  A really fun time.
On Monday, a short riding day, showmanship and horsemanship clinics and a trip to Nigara Falls-- what an awsome sight.  Youth team and parents decided to venture on the Maid in the Mist-- Manager and Coach chickened out and opted for a nice dinner!!
Tuesday--- Up at 5.30, breakfast, ready for 7 am bus to show grounds.  Clinics in Western riding, Trail, and Pleasure.  Two of our trail riders got to clinic with Nancy Cahill!!!
Canada again provided some great entertainment--- the Mounted Police!!!  What a display.
I must say that Canada has put on a truely wonderful World Cup so far!!   They have kept the youth group entertained and able to mix.  A job very well done.
