Please find attached the schedule for the 2nd West Coast Show being held August 8-10, 2008

 

Double user discount available for stables

Stable fees are £70 per stable per show if booked in advance with a £7.50 supplement for the Tuesday and Wednesday nights of Western Week making a total of £155 - our loyalty discount for those attending both shows and including the Western week is £120 for those who pre-pay by the 30th June. Payments and bookings made after the 30th June will be at full price.

Trainers stable offer

Trainers booking 5 horses or more for stabling at both shows will be provided with one free stable/ tack room free of charge if booked and paid for either by their customers or by themselves by the 30th June the customer identifying on the booking form which trainer they are attached to for ease of processing.

 

Superhorse

This class runs on a specific pattern which will be in the pattern book given out on arrival.  It incorporates elements from a variety of regular western classes. It can be ridden either one handed in a curb or 2 handed in a snaffle regardless of the age of the horse.

 

Synchronised Pairs Reining

This a fun class with a serious slant. Pairs must be made up of at least one non pro rider. The scoring is based on points awarded for all standard reining manoeuvres, each of the following must be contained within the program, 2 spins minimum to each direction, large and small circles in each direction, flying and/or simple change, roll backs in both directions, back up and stop. Addition points will be awarded by the judge for overall artistic impression, synchronisation and for turnout and outfit, music may be used and must be given in cd format to the show secretary on arrival. There will be an allocated practice time made available in the form of a paid warm up. Ridden either one handed in a curb or 2 handed in a snaffle regardless of age of horse.

 

Western Week at Mendip Stud build up to Summer Show

A fun week open to all regardless of affiliation, breed of horse or other pre-requisites. Enjoy a social week together with friends sharing an interest in western riding and western associated sports in relaxed and pleasant surroundings. It's summer party time!

  • Group clinics and individual lessons with top trainers Ilan Rosenberg, Sylvia Jäckle, Lucy Adams, Shane Borland
  • Demonstrations including 'Training the Young Horse' with Sandi Austin, 'Clicker Training' with Sue Woods and a trail demonstration with Gill Parker
  • Lectures on 'Equine Nutrition', 'The Equine Immune System', 'Equine Dentistry'
  • Trade stands, lasso classes, two evenings of entertainment, go-karting evening, trail ride on the Quantock Hills, licensed bar, lawn games and fry ups, together with our famous BBQ extravaganza
