The sun
shone down on around 100 people who attended the first AQHAUK
regional experience in Lincolnshire- and watched quarter horses do
their thing at Lucy Adams excellent facilities.
We had
demos in halter and conformation, hunter under saddle, pleasure,
trail, reining and round penning, including an impromptu bareback
riding demo in a halter. The crowd were interested in the horses, the
riding disciplines, the breeding and, as always were impressed by the
horses quiet, pleasant, interested and willing attitude. 30 adults
and children of all ages got a ride on a quarter horse, some had
never been on a horse before –Scoota was a star and was very
patient throughout. Observers also got a chance to ask detailed
questions about training methods, show rules, tack, bits, and any
other thing they wanted to know. We were all kept very busy for the
whole day!! The AQHAUK Stand gave out promotional literature and
goody bags and held a raffle (thanks to Lucy’s mum for doing the
ticket thing!!) raising some money for the Youth team in the process.
People won lesson vouchers, grooming bags, bedding, tail bags, dog
walking kits, t shirts, baseball hats, western photos, and other
goodies. Thanks to all who donated prizes and who generously bought
tickets.
So
thanks to all those who helped whether it be loaning or riding
horses, taking photos, clearing up, helping with trade stand,
commentating, answering questions and also to our trade stands who
came and supported us. It was a great day and proved to be a really
good way of promoting quarter horses and those who are involved with
them on a local basis. We are going to produce a report outlining
what we learned, what worked and what didn’t work so well, which
would provide a good basis for doing a similar event elsewhere across
the country. Contact chris for copies of that .Thanks to – in no
particular order.
