We started the Youth training clinics for the World Cup in January and so far they have all been really hard work, but very rewarding. It has been so nice getting everyone together after the long winter break and I feel we are really beginning to work as a team. The Clinic with Jackie was exceptional and she really knocked us all into shape. Although we all went away from the weekend not able to walk! I felt we all learnt so much and the improvement between saturday and suday was amazing. I think Jackie is a sensational horsewomen and has so much knowledge that she can share with us. I cannot wait till my next youth clinic so I can practice all that Jackie taught us and improve even more.

I am the Youth world cups Reserve rider for 2008. As I’m sure many of you know, Jackie Krshka is this years team coach and she came over (along with her daughter, Katie) and gave the youth team a clinic on the 16th and 17th of February, AND IT WAS AMAZING!!!
On the first day we did horsemanship and hunt seat equation they were work outs, but a huge help!! We did patterns in both and we worked on a lot of precision. It turns out the Jackie is like my mom and will do ANYTHING to make sure you get your diagonals in Hunt Seat. And when I say anything I mean anything! We were all threatened several times that if we checked our diagonals again we would have to get off! But at the end we all were getting our diagonals. Also at the end of English we had to do the thing everybody was hoping to avoid….the dropping of the stirrups and doing lots of transitions and rising trot. We were all kinda walking funny after that one so we decided not to do showmanship. So we all went in and Helen (the owner of the facility) cooked us a great meal and we showed Jackie our show clothes.
Morning came and it was freezing, literally, the water pipe had frozen so all the horses had no water!! I tried pouring boiling water over it with was really stupid because it’s the water supply that’s frozen not the pipe…well at least we could turn the tap!! So we started with showmanship and were freezing!! But we all learnt so much!! We did several patterns, worked on our trot and generally just polishing up everything, which was really good, then things got difficult for me. A few days before the clinic I tore a ligament in my foot, it was on the mend but the cold got to it and the was the first time I ran on it, but Becki wrapped it for me!! After that short interval we did a detailed horsemanship, this was fantastic. We did several patterns and some rail work both with and with out stirrups. It was great!!
Unfortunately all good things have to end and this was no exception, we all had to get home. But the amount we learnt in that clinic was amazing, and now mom knows the latest “trends” we can get even more help which is great. I can’t wait until the next one!!

I am an extremely proud member of the Great Britain Youth
Team who will be competing at this years AQHA Youth World Cup, which
is being held in Ontario, Canada.
On February 16
th we were introduced to our new team
coach, Jackie Krshka- a truly superb competitor who has won just
about everything you can as an individual rider. Jackie is a very
down-to-earth lady, easy to talk too, and a natural leader. The
clinic she gave was absolutely fantastic and has given the whole team
a massive confidence boost and made us all truly believe that with
the group of riders we have, there is every possibility that we can
do better than ever before. Even beating our finishing place at the
last World Cup in Amarillo, where we came 3rd
overall out of 16 countries, which was the highest finish that the
British Youth Team has ever achieved at this prestigious event.
I personally think that
with a lot of very hard work and vigorous training we have a great
chance to achieve this goal.
