2008 AQHA-UK Championships |
|
|
The AQHA-UK Championships are now firmly established as an increasingly high profile feature of the Quarter Horse showing year. Further developments have been introduced for 2008 and updated Rules incorporate a number of significant changes.
The Finals will be held at the newly combined Breed and Championship
Show in September and there will now be Open, Amateur and Youth Finals
in each of the six disciplines of Pleasure, Trail, Reining, Western
Riding, Horsemanship and Hunter Under Saddle.
There will not be separate Novice Championships and Novice riders will
need to qualify in the full Open, Amateur and Youth Divisions. Horses
must be registered with AQHA-UK and riders must be members of AQHA-UK.
The winners of each Final will be awarded the title of AQHA Champion, a
perpetual Silver Trophy, a Champion Buckle and, subject to sponsorship,
prize money will be paid to third place.
Qualification of horse rider combinations will be through points earned
in participating AQHA approved events throughout the year. All AQHA
Shows in the UK are now eligible to participate without any
contribution other than an undertaking to provide full results and to
support and promote the Series and its sponsors. The financial support
of participating shows to get the Championships up and running during
previous years is much appreciated.
Amateur and Youth riders may qualify for Open Finals but, in any
Discipline where they have qualified for both Open and the
Amateur/Youth Final, they may only compete in one or the other and not
both.
A qualifying points level will be set for each Final and once an
eligible horse/rider combination has achieved that level qualification
will automatically be granted. The qualifying points level varies for
each Division and each Discipline.
Additionally, where the number of automatic qualifiers is less than 12,
qualification for the Final will also be granted, as necessary, to the
next highest point earners to bring the number of Finalists up to 12.
Where there are ties for the 12th place all ties will qualify.
Points records will be maintained by AQHA-UK and an updated list of points earned will be maintained on the AQHA-UK web site.
The full rules are now available from the web site or the Association
office. Council looks forward to an exciting 2008 Series and to
enthusiastic competition for a place in the Final and the Title of
Champion.
