The fourth in our "Did You Know" Series deals with the first people to breed Quarter Horses and the first mare and stallion.
The first person in England to start breeding Quarter Horses and using Quarter Horse blood in high class polo ponies was the late Mrs Kay Moseley, who in 1964 imported the famous palomino Quarter Horse stallion Hollywood Cotton, who was the first AQHA UK Legend. Max Charge, who was given to Prince Phillip was the first purebred Quarter Horse mare to settle in england. She was presented in 1964 to the Duke of Edinburgh by the Canadian Government, and was used for polo before going to stud.
