INTERNATIONAL
ELIGIBILITY FOR AMATEURS TO SHOW LEASED HORSES AT THE WORLD SHOW
ELIGIBILITY
1. Amateurs residing in countries
not contiguous to the United States will be eligible. Each amateur must be a current year member of
the American Quarter Horse Association.
2. Individual amateur members may
participate at the Bayer Select and/or the Bank of America World Championship
Shows. If participating in the Bayer
Select and/or the Bank of America World Championship Shows, the individual may
lease a horse to avoid the cost of transporting the horse overseas. However, all records must be complete in the
AQHA office by June 30 for the Bayer Select World Show and August 31 for the
Bank of America World Show the year of the show.
3. Individual amateurs are
eligible to compete at the Bayer Select World Show or the Bank of America World
Show on a leased horse; the individual must have qualified in their
international country or received an invitation from AQHA. A special invitation will be sent to the
exhibitor/horse combination that has earned the greatest number of points
during the qualifying period, which did not meet the minimum number of
qualifying points per class.
4. The amateur exhibitor must be 50 years of
age or older on or before August 3, 2009, to compete at the Bayer Select World
Championship Show.
ENTRY
4. All international amateurs who wish to compete at the Bayer Select or the Bank of America World Championship Shows must have all the entries and entry fees to the AQHA Offices no later than August 3rd (for the Bayer Select and September 15 for the Bank of America World Shows of the year of the show (not postmarked by that date). No entries will be accepted via telephone.
6. Individuals leasing horses or
bringing their own, via transporting, are responsible for the horse’s feed,
bedding and other maintenance costs required.
AQHA is not responsible for the care, safety or management of these
horses at any time. Horses being leased
must meet all health requirements as outlined in the Bayer Select and the Bank
of America World Championship Shows rules and regulations.
7. Horses acquired for
international competitors may not be nationally qualified in the United States
or Canada for the Bayer Select or the Bank of America World Championship
Shows. In addition, horses secured for
competition at the Bayer Select or the Bank of America World Shows by an
international exhibitor may not compete in the same event at the AQHA World
Championship Show or the Bayer Select World Show. (For example a horse leased to compete in
western riding for the Bayer Select World Championship Show may not be used in
western riding at the AQHYA World Championship Show or the Bank of America
World Show).
CLASSES
8. Unless otherwise indicated in
the rules of the Bayer Select and/or the Bank of America World Championship
Show, all class rules of the Official Handbook of the American Quarter Horse
Association will apply.
9. The same horse/exhibitor combination is
not eligible to compete in the same class(es) at the Bayer Select World Championship
Show and the corresponding amateur class(es) at the Bank of America World Show.
FEES
10. Fees for international amateur
members will be the same as nationally qualified individuals. (To be paid in U.S. dollars)
11. All fees, including stall and
entry fees, must be sent to AQHA per the instructions on the entry and stall
forms.
RESIDENCY12. Amateurs must be bona fide
residents of the country they are representing.
