Once again, time
is drawing close to the Ford AQHYA World Show July 31 – August 8 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. AQHA would like to extend an invitation to all
youth around the world to participate in this prestigious event. Attached are
guidelines for leasing horses or owning horses to be shown at the Youth World
Show. If anyone is interested in this
program and has questions, please give us a call. Please remember all paperwork must be complete by May 29, 2009 to be eligible
to participate in the Ford AQHYA World Show.
INTERNATIONAL
ELIGIBILITY
ELIGIBILITY
1. Youth residing in countries not
contiguous to the United
States will be eligible. Participating countries must be recognized
youth association affiliates of the American Quarter Horse Youth
Association. Each youth must be a
current year member of the American Quarter Horse Youth Association. Applications for youth affiliation and/or
youth affiliation of International Associations must be on file with AQHA and
updated annually.
2. Individual youth members may
participate at the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show; however, they must
represent the country in which they reside.
If participating in the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show, the
individual may lease a horse to avoid the cost of transporting the horse
overseas, or must be the recorded owner of the horse. However, all records must be complete in the
AQHA office by May 29 the year of the show.
3. Each country may provide four
representatives per class with qualification of those representatives to be
determined by the affiliated association youth adviser.
ENTRY
4. All international youth who
wish to compete at the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show must have all entries
and entry fees to the AQHA Offices no later than July 1 of the year of the show (not postmarked by that date). Absolutely no late entries will be accepted
and no entries will be accepted via telephone.
An entry packet will be provided to each countries’ affiliated
association youth adviser.
5. Individuals leasing horses or
bringing their own, via transporting, are responsible for the horse’s feed,
bedding and other maintenance costs required.
AQHA is not responsible for the care, safety or management of these
horses at any time. Horses being leased
must meet all health requirements as outlined in Ford AQHYA World Championship
Show rules and regulations.
6. Horses acquired for
international competitors may not be nationally qualified in the United States or Canada for the Ford AQHYA World
Championship Show. In addition, horses
secured for competition at the Ford AQHYA World Show by an international
exhibitor may not compete in the same event at the AQHA World Championship Show
or the Bayer Select World Show. (For
example a horse leased to compete in western riding for the Ford AQHYA World
Championship Show may not be used in western riding at the AQHA World
Championship Show or the Bayer Select World Show).
7. Two horses will be allowed per
rider. Stallions are strictly
prohibited.
CLASSES
8. Four entries per team will be
allowed in each class, in addition to national qualifiers.
9. Unless otherwise indicated in
the rules of the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show, all class rules of the
Official Handbook of the American Quarter Horse Association will apply.
FEES
10. Fees for international Youth
members will be the same as nationally qualified individuals. (To be paid in U.S. dollars)
11. All fees, including stall and
entry fees, must be sent to AQHA in one check or money order by the team adult
adviser. No fees will be accepted from
individual team members.
RESIDENCY
12. Team representatives must be
bona fide residents of the country they are representing. Residency is determined by the state or
country of domicile of the parents or court appointed guardian, which is the
country where such persons actually reside, having intent to make it their
permanent home.
13. Individual youth
may serve as representatives of a country in which they are not a bona fide resident only in the case
where there does not already exist in their country an affiliated
AQHYA association. In that case, those youth must represent a country
affiliate which borders their own country, and must have the permission of
the bordering country’s adult adviser or youth president.
