AQHA UK Horsemanship Camp
2008 Int Horsemanship Camp Print E-mail

To say those of us who attended the 2008 international Horsemanship Camp were treated to world class coaching and instruction would not be an exaggeration as Art O'Brien, lecturer at Findlay University Ohio, is a world class coach. His students were all very knowledgeable and approachable, and we were impressed with their professionalism and presentation at all times. All participants made great progress over the 5 days, both as far as their positioning and riding skills, as well as being introduced to a new range of techniques and tools to get the best from their respective horses . The programme offered a structured format with enough flexibility to meet all our needs. By the end of the camp we were tired but happy, and most would have been happy to stay for longer and keep learning !! Rodbaston is a great venue and feed us well in addition to providing good accommodation and riding facilities. Being one of the organisers for this annual event , I was sorry more people did not make use of this opportunity- we had by far the smallest group from across Europe- however with my riders hat on I have to say- it meant we did get lots of individual time and instruction ........so we were very lucky!!

Norma Atherton Writes

"What a great five days the  AQHA Horsemanship camp was this summer. The training, and the positive feedback given by Art O'Brien and his students Emily, Kirsten,Betsy, and Lindsey, from Findlay University Ohio was excellent. I now feel I can move forward and have lots to work on , and there is a chance now that I will make it to a Rookie class this year. Thanks to Chris, Ian and Mandy for organising the camp, I think I speak for everyone when I say we all enjoyed ourselves tremendously, we spent a lot of time in the saddle, but Art also lectured on every aspect of western riding, The use of different bits, curb straps, even the type of spur each individual should be using. It wasn't all work, we enjoyed meals and conversation at the local pub, and we all joined together for takeaways.wine and fun in the college cafe, and ofcourse very informative videos showmanship, trail and reining
So thanks again for a great clinic, Ian Mandy and Chris, and thanks also to AQHA UK for helping with the cost, and making it a very affordable 5 days. Looking foward to next year.
Norma and Honey."
