Saturday 3rd July - From Rob Dalton
Team UK have now left their training camp in Whitesboro, Texas and travelled
north to start the Youth World Cup proper in Oklahoma City. After booking in
to their hotel they went to the State Fair Arena for a hat sprucing up
session before the evening opening ceremony. They were treated to a traditional Indian dancing and a display of formation riding by the Del Rosa
team from Vernon, Texas before parading with their national flags. Returning
to the hotel the teams were able to exchange gifts and get to know each
other at an informal mixing party.

Youth Riders Head for World Cup in Oklahoma City
Oklahoma
City is the venue in July for the American Quarter Horse Association 2010 Youth
World Cup and the UK will be sending a team of 5 plus two reserves to join the
other 18 teams from around the globe. The Team will depart the UK on 27th June
for a training camp in Texas to be coached by Patty Campbell, an AQHA
Professional Horsewoman. The riders will need all the skill and training
from the last 6 months to ride the borrowed horses over a number of western
disciplines including cattle cutting, reining and horsemanship. Four of
the five team members come from the South East and the whole team were
delighted to receive sponsorship for their trip from Leslie Sutcliffe from
Farnam UK. Farnam are corporate sponsors of the AQHA in America and the
Youth World Cup 2010, so the British team will be wearing the Union Jack on the
team clothing and the Farnam logo too.
Leslie Sutcliffe of Farnam UK is sponsoring the AQHA Youth Team who
leave shortly for Oklahoma City to compete in the AQHA Youth World Cup. Team Manager
Christy Leach commented ' I grew up with these products in America and very
excited that they are now available here in the UK! Many of the top trainers
endorse Farnam and I feel proud that they are taking a true interest in the
AQHA Youth of UK.
Following on from the sponsorship here for the UK
team Farnam in America heard about the event in Oklahoma and stepped in to
sponsor the entire event in 2010. Not only are the team to be supplied
with smart new team outfits for the trip but Leslie organised goody bags of
Farnam products for the team here in the UK and on arrival at the training
facility in the USA.
Youth Team Manager Christy added' Many thanks to
Farnam's UK distributor, Leslie Sutcliffe, for her genuine enthusiasm to
help the AQHA UK Youth Team in 2010.'

Youth Team Manager Christy Leach, will be taking the AQHA UK Youth Team to the USA to compete in the 2010 Youth World Cup. This will be Christy's fifth year as Team Manager. This will be Christy's last Youth World Cup. AQHA UK Council would like to thank Christy for all her hard work over the past five years.
Christy says "After much consideration, I
have decided to step down as the Youth Team Manager after this Youth World Cup
in July 2010. I have enjoyed the
position for the last 5 years, but now feel it is time for someone else to step
