2008 AQHA OFFICIAL HAND BOOK OF RULES AND REGULATIONS:  RULE CHANGE – RULE 448

The AQHA have made us aware of the following rule which applies to Halter classes.

"The purpose of the Halter class is to preserve American Quarter Horse type by selecting well-mannered individuals in the order of their resemblance to the breed ideal and that are the most positive combination of balance, structural correctness, and movement with appropriate breed and sex characteristics and adequate muscling. The ideal American Quarter Horse shown at halter is a horse that is generally considered to be solid in color.

Effective January 1, 2008, AQHA’s Rule 448 HALTER CLASSES (C) (1) will be implemented.

All horses whose registration certificates are marked with a Parrot Mouth notation (see Rule 205(a)), cryptorchid notations (see Rule 205(b)) or excessive white notation (see Rule 205(d)) are ineligible to compete in halter classes.

According to Rule 435 (C); it is the show secretary’s responsibility to: (1) accurately maintain and record both entries and show results, including verifying exhibitor and horse eligibility. (E) the exhibitor must be able to prove the horse is properly registered with AQHA by presenting the registration certificate or photocopy of both sides of the registration certificate if a photocopy is acceptable to show management. (G) show management must inspect the registration certificate of each horse entered in an approved class.

Please keep in mind, if an entry is made in a Halter class for a horse whom is not eligible, the entry will be disqualified and the show secretary will be fined for the infraction.
