Join The Rethink The Horse Tax Campaign |
|
|
Rethink the Horse Tax is the campaign for a fair approach to improving horse health and welfare in the UK.
The
Government has unveiled plans to place a new tax on all horse owners,
as part of proposals that would create a new layer of Government
bureaucracy to deal with managing and preventing animal diseases.
There
is a growing consensus that these plans would have a negative impact on
the horse community in the UK, and will place an unfair burden on both
the equine sector and taxpayers generally, with very little offered in
return.
By joining the Rethink the Horse Tax campaign, you
can help to send a strong message to politicians – that they need to go
back to the drawing board and find a fairer solution to dealing with
horse diseases.
Everyone involved in the horse community –
from casual riders to sporting and horseracing enthusiasts – knows that
caring for our animals is a number one priority. And as a community we
need to make our voices heard and challenge the decision makers in
Government and Parliament to find a better way of dealing with equine
diseases.
Join the campaign to Rethink the Horse Tax and help to make a difference by taking three simple steps:
Step 1: Write to Your MP
Step 2: Sign the 10 Downing Street Petition
Step 3: Join our mailing list and receive regular news updates
Your support for this campaign will make a difference – the proposals are still being discussed within Government so now is the time to voice your concerns and help bring about a rethink on the horse tax.

We've set up a new page on the website, the Roll of Honour Page, which celebrates those horses who have achieved awards such as a Register of Merit, Superior, or AQHA Champion Award. AQHA can not let us know when your horse has achieved these lifetime awards, so we would be grateful if you could let us know so we can add you to the Roll of Honour. Keep checking the pages, as we'll continue to update them

32nd Annual AQHA UK National Breed Show |
|
|
The Queen's Silver Jubilee Year of 1977 saw the first AQHA UK Breed show, held under AQHA rules. In 1976 a smaller exploratory show had been held as a "tester" at Jennie Loristan-Clarke's Catherston Stud in Brockenhurst (New Forest) but 1977 saw the AQHA UK become the official International Affiliate of the AQHA and the first official AQHA UK National Breed Show was held at Cobham in Kent with Mike Perkins (former AQHA President) as the Judge.
Over the years, a collection of perpetual trophies has been amassed, all of which are available to be won at the 32nd Show to be held at Horse Creek Farm in March, Cambridgeshire 24-27th September 2009 (download schedule here) . These impressive trophies list all previous winners, with many of the AQHA UK Legends featured in the Journal and on the website taking their place amongst other well known names. These trophies represent the history of the American Quarter Horse in the UK.
Now is your chance to add your horse's name to these historical trophies by attending the show in September. All of the trophies listed below will be on display prior to presentation.
